Save Daylight!
during the 1910's mant european countries starting adopting daylight savings time. america wasn't in favor of it but allowed states like New York to part take in it if they wanted to. quickly after many other states took the tradition and made it part off their calendars. this helped states like Arizona and New Mexico have shorter summers and kept it cooler. congress offically adopted Daylight savings time in 1915. it has been continued to be in effect till this day and is probably not going to be repealed at any time in history, its over all a better timing schedule.

fashion trends in 1910s for men
fashion trends for men
The fashion revolution began in 1908 and brought a completely fresh look into the 1910s. The absurd, corseted shape of the 1910s woman became more natural during the 1910s, and clothing toned down its lavishness considerably. The "New Woman" that emerged in 1908 was more comfortable, more active, more educated, more independent, and more career-driven. Fashion changed little during WWI, but the mass-produced clothing industry soared in the post-war years. A larger variety of inexpensive clothing was available, allowing fashion to move away from the strict high-style clothing of the 1900s and into a market of quality, affordable clothing for all. Women continued to reject the antiquated notions of femininity, and an even larger reform in dress emerged at the end of the 1910s. By the end of the decade, men's fashions, too, would evolve into something more mainstream and more casual.

1912 sinks!
On April 14,1912 the unexpected happened in the middle of the ocean and many loved ones were lost. One of the largest passenger steamboats had set sail with many passengers on board. They were looking to have a good time on the known to be "unsinkable" ship, many were just looking for freedom coming to America. Four days into the voyage the ship hit an iceberg in the middle of the ocean and slowly went under. many people were frozen in the freezing waters once the ship sank, other jumped and plunged into the ocean knowing their life's were quickly coming to an end. This disaster was a scare to many people, but on the lighter side of this crazy event; it helped improve todays ships and security. part of the many peoples deaths aboard the Titanic was due to not enough lifeboats for all the people on the ship. today no ship of any type is allowed to set sail without there being enough lifeboats to carry everyone incase of emergency. major tests are done to ships before they are actually eligibile to set voyage and carry any amount of passengers.
This is a picture of the ship when it ws found off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

Strange Movements
Emma Goldman
As a Russian born, American writer, Ms.Emma Goldman was a very hated, and misunderstood woman. She played a major role in the history of American Radicalism and Feminism during the 1900's. She was an early advocate for freedom of speech and women's rights. While everyone at this time was strictly against birth control, Emma supported it and never changed her beliefs about it. She stated in 1919, "I don't believe in God, because I believe in Man," after saying this she was practically shunned from her community and served two years in prison for her rationalism. After serving her time she was deported back to Russia. although many weren't fans of Emma's, she enlightened the thought of science that took the focus from being strictly on religion; which is a major improvement in today's society. if it were not for people like Goldman who knows how things would be right now in our time. maybe we still wouldn't approve of birth control and shun fellow citizens who did.
